A couple of days ago I was angry looking at my screen. My eyebrows frowning together.
“He’ll start complaining as soon as he dies. He’s done it every time he died. You’ll see.”
One of my friends said this to another friend who just joined our Discord call.
We had just bought a game on Steam because it had a huge discount. And we were all playing it for the first time.
And for the first couple of hours playing, I had absolutely zero fun.
That was until one of my friends called me out.
I didn’t even realize it, but I was complaining the entire time that we were playing.
This made the game not fun for me or my friends. Because who likes to play with someone who constantly complains?
No one.
So I decided to take a short break.
I went to the kitchen to look out the window, where a thought popped into my head:
“What if as soon as I want to complain, I stop and say nothing? What if I skip the complaining?"
When I came back, the next 4 hours of gaming were the most fun I’ve had in a long time.
Since that day, I try to catch myself complaining and press the “skip” button.
This simple thing has made me enjoy so many things that I wouldn’t have enjoyed otherwise. It also made other people enjoy my company more.
Complaining feels so damn good.
It makes me feel like something is not my fault.
It makes me feel like something that’s within my control is out of my control.
Essentially, it helps me trick myself into thinking that I’m a victim.
That’s why I think it’s useless.
And as a bonus, everyone dislikes people that complain. More reason to get rid of it.
So the next time you think about complaining, experiment with skipping it. It might just make you enjoy the things you’re doing more.

⚙️ New Monitor:
I just bought the most stupidly insane monitor. I was eyeing it for a while, but after I just bought it, I’m not sure how to feel about it. On the one hand, I feel super excited for it to arrive. 4K resolution. 240Hz refresh rate. OLED screen. Dual mode going down to 1080p resolution and 480Hz refresh rate at a press of a button for competitive gaming. On the other hand, I feel super guilty for spending more than a thousand dollars on a monitor. That’s just insane. “I spend so much time looking at a screen, so I might as well enjoy it and get the best screen possible.” At least that’s what I tell myself to not feel as guilty.
✍️ Quote of the Month:
Last month someone leaked a Mr. Beast internal document. It had a bunch of cool and useful stuff about YouTube in it. So I thought, why don’t I go through it, pick out the most useful information, and turn it into a lesson for my “1 Hour YouTuber” course? While I was doing that, I came across a bunch of cool things that I learned. Here’s one of the quotes from that document that I really liked:
Like Steve Jobs says, people don’t know what they want. The viewer may think they want a format forever, but they don’t. They want new and fresh things (this is evident because every channel that rehashes formats for years always dies). This is why I’m constantly ditching formats in exchange for new ones. Ideally, two videos from the same format are not back to back; I’d like multiple different videos in between them if possible. - From a leaked Mr. Beast document

Hi, BOG! That video on Manim was top notch.
I don’t think you should steal from a leaked document.
